I’m the son of a horseman. Or more accurately, a horse man. My father, Edward Mesrey, spent most of his adult years in one of two places: behind the counter of a grocery store or behind the gates of a race track. Winter, spring, summer and fall, he could be found at (Ladbroke) DRC, Northville Downs, Windsor Raceway, or Hazel Park Race Track, where, in October of 1980, he lost his life in the grandstand.  Full Story

I attended my first spring training game in Florida this year, and as nice as it was to see the Tigers back in action after a long winter, I saw something even more entertaining than the ballgame: I saw two guys get into a scuffle; it was pretty bad.

What made it so shocking was the fact that these guys were in their 80s!

It was probably the slowest fight I’ve ever seen. It looked like a scene right out of The Matrix. It was so slow! I think the bystanders would’ve jumped in faster to break it up, but we were all in awe that these guys still had... Full Story
